Hi there! It's Peter here, with a big slice of new branding for photographer Alice the Camera.
Brief/research
Alice wanted to completely update her photography business branding. Her old branding had served her well but she wanted to move in a different direction, with a more mature and sophisticated feel to reflect her current work.
We talked through and reviewed a load of existing branding, picking out ideas that Alice could align with and visuals that gave the right feel. It was clear from the beginning we were going in a fashion direction with a high end feel.
Initial ideas
This was going to be a simple and elegant affair; monochrome, tasteful serifs mixed with elegant sans serifs, no gimmicks or camera graphics, with a suite of secondary backup graphics/patterns.
So I got work on a set of initial ideas. I got a bit carried away... But it's never a bad thing to get it all out and down on paper, you never know what can grow out of small idea, it might pop up again for a different project.
I also developed a pattern design which followed a colour scheme we'd agreed, with a view to using these as big impact backgrounds on brochures and business cards.
Mockups/development
From this point we picked a preferred route and I worked it up to professional level and showed how it would work on the website, as a watermark and with the patterns.
Fonts
Because this is a simple logotype it required a strong and unique font for the main 'ALICE' text. I decided on Domain Display medium from Village and the secondary font is Metro, which is simple and clean.
Final brand
With all of these elements in place, the final brand was ready to launch. We developed a design for Alice's business cards and stationery, I worked with her to customise her new website and we are currently developing brochures for potential clients which show off Alice's beautiful work and services.
